Although the cinema under the stars just completed within the walls of the Arena in Pula in Istria, the right thing, starry, night cinema is always over our heads. Tireless celestial mechanics all our days and nights offering new events. This week, a few bright planets and stars and moon saved us play in the early morning which is our natural satellite the main actor. Starry cinema is completely free, all you need to do is be awake an hour before sunrise and look toward the east. Already this morning the moon was located near the bright planet Jupiter. Tomorrow and the next day morning he went a bit from Jupiter descends below the horizon, where it expects the constellation Taurus and a relatively close encounter with the Pleiades star clusters. Wednesday morning the moon and Mars will be found very "close" to each other in the sky. The Moon will be located slightly above Mars. A similar situation, but with the moon, "below" Mars will be on Thursday morning. For the observation of these events are not needed None of our technical tools, it is enough to the naked eye look toward the east. As all these objects are low above the horizon it will be a little star twinkled because of refraction of light rays in the atmosphere. Reddish star Aldebaran in Taurus and reddish Mars will be clearly distinguishable from other "white" stars around. The Moon will turn over Wednesday and Thursday will be slightly yellowish in color. In complement to these events included a man and his space technology. Thus, on Wednesday morning between 04:45 and 04:50 from southwest to northeast cross the International Space Station. On his way to take a very "close" Jupiter, the Moon and Mars. Will have a similar trajectory and Friday morning between 04:26 and 04:32 with the time that the sunset of the eastern horizon over a month to cross the disk!
In the evening we will have barely noticeable bright Saturn and Mercury above the western horizon.

Sunday, July 24th, 2011 Posted in Astronomy |Prime Minister Ivo Josipovic at a meeting of representatives of the AU Vidulini
Monday, October 11th, 2010 Posted in Astronomy |On Sunday, October 10 Prime Minister Ivo Josipovic met with representatives of Žminj Astronomical Association Vidulini Marino Tumpić and Gregor Srdoči.
During more than a half hour conversation, and Srdoč Tumpić presented Josipovic work and the results of the AUV. The cozy atmosphere and the numerous questions and answers from both sides of the table, and lasted longer than the protocol time slots. They talked about current projects, which deals with the AUV and the possibilities for further work in the field of astronomy and astronautics. Visibly pleased with the president's words impressed with the results of the astronomical union Vidulini Josipovic promised his support and announced that it will soon see the Predsjednikovm office at the Presidential Palace.
At the end of the meeting Srdoč Tumpić and gave the President a black "cubesat" - the hardest stone cube with the logo of the AUV and the Croatian coat of arms of the upper side has a slot for a pen. Symbolizes Cube dimensions 100x100x100mm Satellite (so-called picosatellite), which is the main objective of the project astronautics. We hope that this "cubesat" on the table other than the President of the symbolism and open a new chapter in astronomy and astronautics Croatian.
Croatian students have discovered six previously unknown variable stars
Saturday, August 21st, 2010 Posted in Astronomy |During the summer astronomy workshops CLARK-2010, which implements oganizira Vidulini Astronomical Association, twelve participants (students, engineers, professors ..) have found six new, previously unknown variable stars. The findings confirmed the leading international organization for research and grant him the status of the discoverer of such facilities; American Association of variable star observer (AAVSO) from the United States. Before beginning work on this issue at Vidulini Observatory in Croatian in the last hundred years, discovered only two new promijenjive stars.
A team of young researchers and discoverers seemed; Gregor Srdoč, Jure Bacelj, Andrea Grujic-Jukic, Ana Bacelj, John Kurečić, Peter Gljušćić, Quiet Barac, Erik Sulc, Sandra Požežanac, Ines pestaj, Marcela Marino Rasonja and Tumpić.
In the following the AAVSO can see international recognition and a list of discoverers discoveries of previously unknown promijenjivih stars. End of newly discovered previously unknown promijenjivih stars (stars that due to physical or chemical process of changing its brightness) will forever stand in the names of young Croatian astronomers.

Astronomical Association Vidulini past ten years, organizes and conducts Summer Science and technical workshops for children and young people, with an emphasis on astronomy, named Clarke. During this last year, but education is a great attention is paid to experimental studies of extrasolar planets and variable stars. Selected teams of young people from all over the Croatian in time from 09 to 12 August was invited to ovgodišnje edition CLARK-2010 for the introduction of the research, using their own equipment, VSX NEXT, the world's database (Super WASP) and research and discoveries of previously unknown variable stars.
Upon arrival and accommodation of the Wellness Team is the first day of the workshop for a few hours of introduction to the issues, a division of specialized software packages and prepared a database that was supposed to analyze, set to work. Methodology, input data, their verification, determination of potential candidates, and reporting the discovery of previously unknown promijenjivih stars in the AAVSO with the participants was done Gregor Srdoč.
Srdoč is otherwise in the international ranking American Exoplanet Archive (AXA) for more than a year and a half firmly holds first place in the world in the research of the planets of other stars and the most prolific discoverer of Croatian promijenjivih stars of all time.
The research work and findings so far recognized only the beginning of the work teams that participated at the Clark-2010. All of them now follow zaprimljenh repeated analysis of the data, extract the potential of new discoveries and ultimately a new recognition by the AAVSO. This team will continue their joint work in Vidulini Observatory in research and discovery, and further, using data obtained in its own robotic systems such as those available from databases observatory located in the Canary Islands, South Africa .. In the near future telescopes located in space (Kepler).
In addition to the planned work of last time, and participants CLARK-2010 in your free time (read, the time that they themselves "stolen" for rest and sleep) were recorded and studied the sun, Jupiter, Saturn, set up an autonomous meteorological station, extended with the installation made for telescopes, In all, manage to find a couple of hours relaxing "brainstorming" on the beach.
It is interesting to note how these young astronomers, the discoverer of previously unknown celestial objects themselves had to take care of accommodation, food, beverage and other costs, just as in true Croatian story-reality, which "follows the" top performance in science. However, a symbolic but valuable assistance provided by Tomislav Galant (Podravka), David Sugary (Eurotrade), Renato Maretić (Actual IT), Daniel Erman (Erman-commerce) and Ljubljana.
IUSNOP-2010
Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010 Posted in Astronomy |International Observing Uranus Starry Night Party 2010 (IUSNOP-2010) IUSNOP is an international initiative aimed at astronomy popularization of astronomy and promoting cooperation among amateur astronomers around the world through practical observations of the planet Uranus.
The initial organizing committee consists Astronomical Association Vidulini (Vidulini, HR), Astronomical Society Lira (Novi Sad, SRB), Astronomical Society Astra (Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the establishment), Skopje Astronomical Society (Skopje, MK). Organising Committee is open for access to new members.
Time of IUSNOP-2010 is being implemented since 01.08.2010. do 30.09.2010. during which time observers with their telescopes, binoculars, or even without them the planet Uranus, and perceive about using observational organizers provide a report form. Each participant IUSNOP-2010 will receive a confirmation e-mail (recognition) of participation in the form of a PDF document.
Why Uranium?
Although in its glory in the range of the human eye (5.5 m) the planet Uranus was discovered until 1781. thanks to the telescopic observations of William Herschel (1738-1822). Aggravating circumstance for the early detection of Uranus was difficult to see its movement in relation to zvijezdanu background, glow in the limit of visibility with the naked eye, and it was certainly earlier observers have identified as a "star stagnant." For observations of Uranus must astrognozije basic knowledge, the coordinates of the current position of planets in the sky, a minimum of instruments and some free time and good will.
Observing Uranus in the IUSNOP-2010, or participation in this project symbolizes a step between the old and modern astronomy astronomy without the use of astronomical instruments. Observer who finds and identifies safe Uranus the starry sky and made a symbolic step between the observer and the lay observer amateur astronomers. Amateur astronomers today would not be a problem to find and recognize Uranus in the sky. If it turns on it and lay observers this planet, on the border between old and modern astronomy, we made a valuable educational work. Participation of amateur astronomers to freely join the project through a form of participation, the nature of observational reports. In this sense, it is enough to do an observation of Uranus, the form and fill it via e-mail sent to the organizer by e-mail;

Not up to date with volcanoes? Take care - comes a new one!
Tuesday, May 11th, 2010 Posted in Astronomy |They wanted it or not we all more or less know the issues Eyjafjallajokull recent eruption in Iceland. Even those who live as a hermit, could not fail to notice the absence kondezacijskih traces of airplane engines in the air. Noise pollution in nekliko the days absent and the skies gave way to the birds, just as in any other, predtehnološka time! But it is very possible that Eyjafjallajokull was just a preface to the thunder of "gods" from the Earth's interior.
What we should be concerned about the statement Magnus Tumi Gudmundsson, a geophysicist at the University of Iceland!
Iceland straddles the line of volcanism is associated with it a number of identified volcanoes. One of them, the volcano, whose name is much easier to pronounce - Katla is directly related to the Eyjafjallajokull. Gudmundsson admits that there is no scientific doazana relationship between these two mountains are no historical records that date back a thousand and a half years in the history unmistakably indicate their proximity. In fact, shortly after each eruption Eyjafjallajokulla came to a "chain reaction" which followed the eruption of Katla. Local people in these situations carefully watched what happens to the Katla. And not without reason. The eruption of Katla is much stronger than Eyjafjallajokulla eruptions in the past 1000th years ago there were at least twenty that this active volcano makes an average of one in fifty years! To illustrate Katla magma tunnel is about ten times larger than the Eyjafjallajokull!
Kathryn Goodenough from the British Geological Survey says we have no evidence about the relationship between these two volcanoes but it is possible that it is a "vent" incandescent material deep beneath the Earth's crust that can overflow into two volcanoes. On the other hand connected eruptions of the two is unclear, but records from the past indicate their proximity. How many of us away from a new, large eruptions nobody could tell. We can only speculate on the past experiences and tell how it could be the time from weeks to just over a year ago, says Gudmundsson.
In these moments there is no seismic activity that would indicate the movement of magma within the Katla. Dr. Goodenough from the Iceland Meteorological Office says that science, despite primjenjenoj technology has certainly signs that could predict the "volcanic time," these things can change in just a few hours.
Seen in Icelandic, locally-economic and agricultural opportunities powerful eruption of Katla would seriously threaten the local economy, especially agriculture. But the consequences would be global. Peace and quiet in the sky are just the smallest items known issues - active volcanism.
Several strong tectonic disturbances in combination with multiple simultaneous eruptions of large volcanoes can change the climate in a second planet in a very long time.

Vatican view of the sky
Thursday, May 6th, 2010 Posted in Astronomy |Jesuit Jose Gabriel Funes, director of the Vatican Observatory gave a press statement in which he says that after each looked to the stars feels closer to God. Countless thousands of people every night, stopping for a moment under the stars, some of them (astronomers) study and luminous sparkles in the night and trying to grasp the mysterious force, and the processes forming them.
As an astronomer, and every believer in the view of the sky ostajen fascinated by the richness of objects and phenomena that are there. In this way closer to the universe - God's creation. Funes and his colleague Guy Consolmagno explore the universe with the Vatican Observatory located in Castel Gandolfo, near Rome.
How the universe was created, how it evolves, that all the processes taking place in it, whether there are planets like our own and that there is life there are just some of the issues addressed by the Vatican Observatory. This astronomical duo studied astronomy before they enter the Church. I believe in God, Consolmagno says, although I am primarily a scientist My faith in God encouraged us to with even more passion and power of investigating his work. God gives me strength to cope with the unknown. Space exploration means to follow God's way, discover the secrets of the universe means to collect a puzzle from which it is clear that the chaos that seems the government of the universe only a part of God's plan.
Both scientists and Jesuits agree that their work serves the church and believers but also science. The Church has always been interested in astronomy, although throughout history there and turn to the divine path, in which mention the injustice done to Galileo.
The Vatican Observatory has a station at a few places around the world. This institution is one of the oldest and najuvažavnijih observatory in the world. Modern telescopes such as the Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope (VATT) in Tucson (Arizona, USA) used in civil and ecclesiastical scholars, if any, we can also title.
As a scientist and a believer not to worry about the possibility of life in the universe beyond Earth. God has created billions of galaxies, with billions of Suns and which still have billions of planets and it would be a miracle that it all just for us, Funes added at the end of the conversation.
Want to learn more about the Vatican Observatory sure to visit their website: http://www.vaticanobservatory.org, can make you a little information out there separate from giving the experience of the church as an institution.

Lethal masterpiece in the universe
Tuesday, May 4th, 2010 Posted in Astronomy |Colorful images of the universe often leaves us without comment. It is true that such images often material for the heart and soul of astronomers and the public, and rarely for scientific research and yet our culture would be incomplete without pictures of space objects. Here is one of the countless, unique objects in the universe - in front of you is the Carina Nebula.
Although at first glance it seems that this is a magnificent part of the beautiful universe as an artist without personality is actually on the ice time of terror by the CCD chips capture Hubble Space Telescope. This nebula stage a dramatic action-physical processes unimaginable intensity. Within the plume a strong stellar wind, such as the strength of countless hysterical delinquents one thousand terrestrial hurricanes (which, incidentally, would there be less than the "poppy seed") wild these distant regions. Newborn young mammoth, blue, stars Wuthering streams and other ultraviolet radiation destroy and burn the last gaseous clouds of interstellar matter and stellar dust from which the material itself caused only a few million years.
Carina is home to huge clouds of dark and bright interstellar matter, the right of the tower of cold hydrogen permeated with dust are located near several large stellar clusters. The duty is born violently, live fast and die in the big bang. Several dozen Cyclopean stars, dozens and dozens of times more massive than our sun, living a life whose life is measured not only millions of billions of years. Star monster called Eta Carinae has found its place within the nebula. It is the star of almost unparalleled in the whole universe, or at least our galaxy! When it finally explodes his evulucijskog cycle across the galaxy will send a deadly, invisible to the naked eye, the radiation that will sterilize the space light years around. Astronomers have extensively researched the processes in this vast celestial laboratory because its radiation will reach up to us and no one knows how it will affect life on Earth! Shall we just go with the higher doses of radiation (Chernobyl will seem like child's toy) whether the plant and animal species are dangerous to mutate along with the genes of our race or would Eta Carinae could instantly erase life on Earth as if it never happened! ? Eta Carinae is in its last moments before the titanic eruption reject their webs, end his life and sent deadly radiation in space. It is possible that we do in common only that hundreds of years ..
Expedition Astronomical Association Vidulini at Cape of Good Hope in August / September 2005. in South Africa, not far from where the Abbe Lacaille formed an observatory and discovered the Carina Nebula, and spent the first studies of the same.
These are important questions for our civilization and not just a matter of astronomy rather than life on Earth at all! Carina Nebula is 7500 light-years away in the constellation Carina (The bow) after whom it was named. This is actually an artistic Beautiful place right reincarnation of nuclear hell in which they turn on and off hundreds of thousands of stars. Constellation Carina is not visible from our latitudes, but the Earth's southern hemisphere. French astronomer Abbé Lacaille (1713-1762) discovered this nebula, and carried out the first research observatory, which is formed on the Cape of Good Hope, south of present-day South Africa. Photo made by bringing the Hubble space telescope three years ago. The originally it is possible to print on paper widths 2.5m. Its digital measuring 29,566 x 14,321 pixels. Actually covers only part of the nebula at a width of about 50 light years, while space nebula spans the space of more than 200 light years! To compare the size of the entire solar system is only a few light hours! Would you like to have complete resolution of these photos (jpeg format) to visit this site and make sure 200Mb of space on your hard disk; http://www.spacetelescope.org/images/html/heic0707a.html.
That the colors would not be just a color, keep in mind that the color red represents areas rich in sulfur, blue stands for oxygen and hydrogen is green!

How to make a fool of top athletes
Sunday, May 2nd, 2010 Posted in Astronomy |Middle of this week on the website Vecernji List, but also in some other media, they appeared pompous headlines about how Ivica Kostelic after successful completion of the ski season, awarded by the sponsor VIPnet, and to no fewer than ownership of several parcels on the moon, and star of your own! ?
To tell the truth to say that this is a real nonsense and legal fraud because nobody could be an owner of land on the moon and the stars alone (Suns) in the universe. Even the name or names of objects, the appearance and location of the celestial objects in the universe can be labeled only in the manner prescribed by laws and regulations implemented by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), and on their site / documents, there is no mention of such operations in he is guilty or not included and Kostelic. It turns out that big smile of our athletes is actually a result of illegal work and buying junk (framed, of course!) "Certificate" that several private companies substantially completely illegal and worthless as a pixilated naivnicima securities sold around the world.
We have already mentioned that no one can be the owner of the heavenly bodies, or areas on them. It is impossible to buy, sell or anything like that. Some terminology that is used in astronomy and amateur scientists serve as a kind of sign (atlas, map ..) to navigate, and it is clear that Bernard stars as viewed from another planetary system, by another civilization surely be marked in other ways but in both cases to work on physical phenomena and processes that are waiting for scientists to penetrate into their secrets ..
The question remains sponsors are aware of these facts, or flew into recklessly. What they got as the product of "zaglupljujućeg" act is certainly a great media attention to the utterly worthless "event". In spite of everything, the "certification" proudly stands VIPnet's logo? In this way, and the telecommunications company other than degradation Kostelićevog results and reputation of breaking down and his "image" as a serious company.
Big media stunt, and excellent results are thus framed stain of being the elementary ignorance and deception. Is it really deserved Ivica worthless paper that is on this site (www.lunarregistry.com / stars / index.shtml) paid full 49.95USD!
A real and veritable truth is, in Croatia there are several companies, an observatory, individuals whose work has been a world leader in the field of astronomy to be addressed. Their perennial persistent pleading of various companies, ministries, municipalities and cities to co-operation in order to be even better and more successful run into a wall of silence or at best a letter scores of those same astronomers and formally commended them to further success in his work but there no money for real values. Perhaps Kostelic (or somebody else, is irrelevant), accompanied by their sponsors, the media, for example, could not attend the practical training / workshop astronomers, take the basics of problem detection of variable stars, actively participate in the arduous work and concludes with the full moral right to research and be recorded as one of Darwin, of uncharacterized promijenjive stars! It would be a real event, educational, moral, legal and research value of the benefit of all. The self-declared "state of knowledge" and its citizens has been recast in the media zaglupljujućoj episode of human folly has once again thrown into a very, very low. Would say - not on his knees, but at bottom.

Almost a tragedy to launch Nuclear Compton Telescope
Friday, April 30th, 2010 Posted in Astronomy |Yesterday's launch of a giant balloon with a special telescope NCT (Nuclear Compton Telescope) near Alice Springs in Australia ended nearly a disaster and human tragedy.
When launching giant balloons intended for lifting NCTa the stratosphere there is a strong side-winds which resulted in the uncontrolled lift gondolas with telescopes and instruments, which was then repeatedly kicked on the ground and lifts up, and shortly after the gondola loose cables and continued its hopper at this time, hitting several vehicles. At least one of the parked vehicle, prying eye witness the launch, there was an older couple who fortunately passed without injury.
Parts of the telescope and equipment are scattered within a few hundred meters and it is indeed true happiness that no one was injured. Nuclear Compton Telescope for the study of our galaxy and nejgovo rise into the stratosphere allows him an unobstructed view of the sources of electromagnetic radiation that are obstructed by the Earth's atmosphere.
NCT was a collaboration between UC Berkeley and NASA and is valued at several million dollars. In previous campaigns, the launch of the telescope was in the air of a few tens of hours to more than a week.
CSI and the research team has now collected pieces of equipment in the Australian desert and it is certain that during the next launch (the telescope is operational again) has to pay much more attention to weather conditions existing immediately above the ground when the balloons are the most sensitive phase of flight.
